Since 1964 Denka has produced expansive additives for cement. These reduce shrinkage, heat of hydration and increase strengths.

In Japan this technology is used to chemically pre-stress concrete. In Europe these additives are used mainly in shrinkage compensated mortars.

Different from gas forming blowing agents (such as aluminium powder) Denka CSA#20 forms a stable crystalline structure which gives a durable shrinkage reduction.
